A new Zero Waste Refill Room is now open inside Ten Thousand Villages in Archbold. This eco-conscious, planet-friendly room provides an opportunity to refill containers with laundry detergent, household cleaners and personal care products. This little room makes a big impact by helping people care for the earth while reducing their environmental impact!
About the Store
Ten Thousand Villages is a non-profit store in Archbold offering handmade, fairly traded items from around the world. A new Zero Waste Refill Room inside the shop offers products that fit perfectly with the organization’s mission of people and planet first.
The eco-friendly addition to the store features all things home, bath and body. Just bring your own container, buy one at the shop, or pick up a free, recycled container and fill it with the earth-friendly products you need! Refillable products are sold by the ounce, so you can buy as much as you’d like and can even smell and try any product before your purchase!
Zero Waste, Plastic Free Products
The Zero Waste Refill Room is stocked with refillable castile soaps, all-purpose cleaners, laundry soaps, and foaming hand soap tablets. There are also a variety of shampoo and conditioner bars, dish soap bars, deodorant, and plastic-free laundry stain stick bars. Other popular products include dryer balls, Swedish dish cloths, reusable make up rounds, and cloth napkins. All the soaps and personal care products are made with natural scents using essential oils and unscented options are also available. The products are made without any toxic chemicals and all packaging is biodegradable.
How It Works
If you’re looking for ways to reduce plastic use you’re sure to appreciate the products now available for purchase locally! Here’s how it works . . .
1. Bring your own container, buy a new container, or use a free, donated container from the store.
2. Place your empty container on the scale to weigh.
3. Fill the container with the product of your choice and put the cap on.
4. Put the container back onto the scale to weigh.
5. Choose the label that matches your product and write the weight on the back.
6. Take the label to the register along with any other great items you can’t live without!
7. Take your products home to enjoy yourself and feel better about making a difference.

The Zero Waste Refill Room is open during regular business hours inside Ten Thousand Villages. Be sure to bring a clean container from home to refill (or you can find a new or recycled container in the shop!)
